Detroit played like defending champions. Highlights from the game:

Ben Wallace had 15 points (6 of 8 from the field), 10 rebounds and 4 assists.

Dirk Nowitzki had 33 points (12 of 19 form the field), 10 rebounds and 5 assists.
Brad Miller led Sacramento with 24 points (8 of 14 from the field) and 6 rebounds.
Chris Webber had 21 points (10 of 17 from the field) and 10 rebounds.
Sacramento's newly signed Matt Barnes had a great game with 17 points off the bench (7 of 11 from the field), 9 Rebounds and 4 Assists.
Peja Stojakovic was just 3 of 15 from the field for 12 points. Mike Bibby settled for 8 points with just 2 of 8 from the field, 5 rebounds and 6 assists.

Chris Mihm had a career-high 23 points, 12 rebounds and 1 assist in his first regular season game as a Laker.
Kobe Bryant had 25 points (5 of 14 from the field), 4 rebounds and 7 assists.
Lamar Odom made just 2 of 8 from the field for 5 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists.
Carmelo Anthony had 20 points (9 of 22 from the field), 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
Kenyon Martin put 13 points on the board (4 of 8 from the field), 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
Marcus Camby made 8 points (4 of 8 from the field), 16 rebounds and 1 assist.
