Dallas Mavericks waive Christie

Doug Christie was waived by the Dallas Mavericks on Friday. I guess injuries etc. finally caught up with the 35-year old guard. This waiver is not a big blow to the Mavericks balance sheet; Christie was only guaranteed a little over $3 million with the contract he signed with the Mavericks during the offseason.

Coach Avery Johnson comments: "It was a situation where it just didn't work," Mavericks coach Avery Johnson said. "It was just good for everybody to have a chance to move on. Doug came in with the intentions that it was going to work, but it just didn't work and in a lot of different ways."

Wells quickly becoming a leader with the Kings

The Sacramento Bee has a story on the rising popularity of Bonzi Wells in Sacramento. Wells has been playing very well with the Kings this season. The story touches on a rumored "verbal smackdown" on Peja Stojakovic. Bottom line is Wells has found a new home, and things are looking good for him in Sacramento filling the role of tough guy.

Warriors eye Kevin Garnett

Tim Kawakami of The Mercury News writes:

Open your eyes, Warriors fans: The Unofficial Garnett Trade Market just revved to life this week, and Mullin could turn out to be a very intriguing and very motivated participant.

Kawakami goes on to describe the ultimate dream of how the Warriors could land Kevin Garnett through a trade; of course assuming the Timberwolves are ready to let him go. He argues this would work if the Warriors offer anybody and everybody not named Baron Davis.

Olowokandi to Utah for Boozer?

TwinCities.com Pioneer Press reports:

Don't be surprised if the Timberwolves talk trade with the Jazz, with Michael Olowokandi going to Utah for Carlos Boozer, and with either Troy Hudson or Marko Jaric of the Wolves as part of a deal.

Nate McMillan complains about new team

New Portland Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan complains about his new team:

"It's all about numbers and points, no focus on the defensive end of the floor. Just too many agendas."

Ruben Patterson is expected to receive a suspension or fine for openly complaining about playing time when the Knicks visited and won Sunday.

Are the Blazers already numb to coach McMillan's yelling and discipline?
