A horrible news bit reports that New York Knicks guard Quentin Richardson left the team Monday because of a family emergency. According to reports his 31-year old brother Lee Richardson was shot and killed in Chicago on Monday. Quentin's younger brother Bernard was shot and killed by robbers when Quentin was 12 years old.
I pass my condolences to the Richardson family.

More on Eddy Curry
ESPN / AP has more coverage of the pending Eddy Curry sign and trade between the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks. Interesting to see that Chicago was going to pay Curry $400,000 annually for the next 50 years if he had failed the DNA test they wanted him to take. But it's probably a good thing he didn't go along with this; others have pointed to the issue of privacy and the discussion goes far beyond this case. I doubt any of us would feel comfortable if our employers could freely ask us to take a DNA test or leave.
New York Daily News has another story about the pending deal and the physicals Curry will have to pass before he can join the Knicks.
"The Knicks reportedly signed Curry to a six-year, $56 million contract. It is unlikely that the contract will be insured."

Knicks coach Wilkens resigns
The 67-year-old Lenny Wilkens resigns as New York Knicks head coach.
He must have watched Sports Center on ESPN last night; after losing 91-92 to Tracy McGrady, Yao Ming and the Houston Rockets, nobody had kind words or even words of encouragement for the team and coach who have now lost 9 of their last 10 games.
Assistant coach Herb Williams will take over head coaching responsibilities at least for the rest of the season.
